I was born and grew up in Saint Paul. I have been married for almost forty years. I have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. We raised our children to embrace their Mexican culture. As a family we are bilingual and share the values, hopes and fears of the Latino community.
I was excited to become a member of the A.C.C. Familia because of how I had seen my own family member’s treatment in the educational system. They were often treated as being invisible and unimportant. I wanted better for my family and our community. I believe in the A.C.C values of Respect, Unity, Familia and Hard Work personally and they reflect my family values as well. This will be my 19th year at A.C.C. I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade. I have been the testing and curriculum coordinator. I have taught Freedom School. I have been a Mentor, Peer Observer and Instructional Coach. I have served as a school Board Member for 16 years. I currently serve as an Interventionist, assisting scholars to develop skills in reading and mathematics. |
