Board of Directors and School Directors Statement

The Academia Cesar Chavez Board of Directors, school leadership and school community have initiated the process to change the name of our school. This process is already underway.

At this moment, our primary responsibility is to the safety and emotional well-being of our students and our entire school community. That must remain our central focus, especially during a time of pain and uncertainty. Our community has experienced significant strain in recent months. Many of our students, families, and staff have been navigating fear, disruption, and trauma that have deeply affected our school. Recent reports of sexual abuse have added to the pain our community is already carrying. We honor the courage of the women who have spoken up, including Dolores Huerta, and all survivors whose voices and experiences matter. We hold this with deep care and remain committed to responding in ways that center dignity, respect, and healing.
